Our Head Office teams

Commercial

We’re the team that understands what products our customers want, finds the right suppliers and gets them at the best possible price.

As a Buyer you’ll need to know the pros and cons of the products, just like our trade customers do. Negotiating with suppliers to get products at the right price is a big responsibility, but an exciting opportunity. With strong commercial nous, you’ll almost be running your own business, overseeing your product area and able to see your impact on the bottom line every day.

As a Buying Assistant, you’ll be replenishing stock. With an analytical approach and an eye for detail, you’ll need to get the orders right each time. It’s a good grounding in the commercial side of our business, with opportunities to move into Web Merchandising or Supply Chain.

Our small Quality Assurance team is growing fast and you can help shape its future. Working closely with the Buyers, you could be assessing product quality against trade regulations, or carrying out ethical reviews.

Facilities and Property Management

We plan, design, build, maintain and secure all Toolstation branches. And, with plans to open 67 new stores in 2019, there’s plenty of room for growth. Whether you have specialist experience or more general skills, it’s your open personality, ability to learn on the job and can-do attitude that’ll make you stand out.

Our Facilities Support team deals with stores’ day-to-day issues – anything from structural damage or blocked toilets to physical security, monitoring alarms and investigating losses. It’s about being good with people, managing expectations and coming up with solutions.

In Facilities Compliance we look at all our systems and processes to monitor and strengthen the way we do things.

In Property Design & Build Management we design and plan new stores and work with contractors to get them up and trading in double-quick time. You’ll need to be a strong planner and able to think on your feet.

The Property Acquisition team finds and buys new sites for our stores. Working closely with the Travis Perkins property team, we need to make sure each site meets all our business needs.

Our Bought-In Goods and Services team negotiates with suppliers and buys in business supplies and services, from stationery to company cars.

Finance

As we aim to double the business over the next five years, our Finance teams are playing a central role in our development. This offers a wide range of career development opportunities for trainee and qualified accountants.

Join us and as the business evolves at an incredible pace, you could be involved in a huge range of projects. Because we still operate like an entrepreneurial business, you’ll have a degree of autonomy and control you probably wouldn’t find anywhere else. And, as we’re part of the wider Travis Perkins Group, you’ll have the chance to take your career in a variety of directions.

Our Commercial Finance team works closely with the business divisions, advising them on how to make the best financial decisions. In our Operational Finance team, you’ll help to provide reliable, consistent accounting services that underpin the company’s growth.

Whichever team you join, you’ll enjoy working in a supportive and collaborative environment where you’ll be encouraged and supported to gain relevant professional qualifications and add to your skills.

Human Resources

As Toolstation’s business grows at a rapid pace, in HR we’re the ones who make sure we have great people in place to make it happen.

In short, we’re here to do the best for everyone across Toolstation. And that means we’re totally revamping our approach. With massive demand for new people in every part of the business, we’re introducing HR Business Partners, who can play a big part in our growth.

In our Recruitment team, you’ll be right at the front end of our growth, attracting and recruiting the best people who can take each part of the business forward.

Once we’ve recruited them, our Learning & Development team are the ones who make sure they get the development they need, from in-house workshops to recognised qualifications.

Our in-house Payroll team makes sure that everybody’s paid, not only on time, but the right amount. We also look at new systems to make life easier, such as booking holidays on your mobile.

We’ve also got our HR Admin team who tie everything together, making sure everyone has what they need, from offer letters and contracts to leaver forms and everything in-between.

Whichever team you join, you’ll have the chance to make a positive impact on every part of our business and build your skills and experience.

Information Technology

With offices in Bridgwater and Bristol, we develop, maintain and support systems for the UK and European businesses. We do things differently – we’re not afraid to develop our own systems and apps or take things apart and get our hands dirty. It’s an exciting systems environment with developments in PHP running Laravel, and support for LINUX, Mac and Windows systems and a range of open source software.

As a Developer you could be building vital business systems, including our website. You could be an IT graduate or self-taught – what’s important are your can-do attitude and ability to learn quickly.

In Project Management you’ll work closely with the business to translate their needs into technical briefs for the Developers and then manage projects through to completion.

In IT Support our first level support teams handle day-to-day issues over the phone. Our Technicians offer more specialist support and our Support Engineers focus on our networks and security. If you’re good on the phone and can deal with a variety of people, we’ll train you in the technical side of things.

We also buy our own machines and components, so the IT Procurement team negotiates with a range of suppliers.

Marketing and Communications

As a rapidly growing multi-channel business, we rely on our Marketing teams to help our customers find the right products at the best price.

Our Product Catalogue team produces five catalogues a year, while our Website and Digital teams manage our retail website and the digital marketing that supports it. These fast-moving, high-profile teams work closely with Buyers and play a big part in driving sales.

Join our Branch or Brand Marketing teams and you could be working with agencies to create TV and radio adverts or helping to police our Toolstation brand. This means you’ll need a creative streak, along with a strong eye for detail.

In our CRM, you’ll be using your analytical and technical skills to produce the figures that guide how we understand our customers. It’s vital information that drives our new innovations, such as our Trade Credit Card and Click and Collect service.

We’re looking for a can-do approach, a strong commercial focus and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and make things happen.
